Texting Mensuration

Texting...
I have a love/hate relationship with texting. What are the real rules to texting?
I'm WARNING you now this post will be full of rants.

First things first. The double text.
Double texting is so annoying!

This is NOT okay.
The only time double texting is acceptable is when you have something different to add, a new thought, or something urgent. Although you might have tons of thoughts running through your head, don't overwhelm me with a billion questions. Just hold your horses or CALL me.

Ok next topic.
If you have nothing else to say and you are going to text back with "K" then just save it. If you text back saying "Ok got it" or "Sounds good" or something like that, great. Other than that DON'T TEXT ME BACK!

Emoticons.
;) means your joking.
:) means that your happy or something that was said made you smile
:/ (this is called a bount face) means that you are sorry or bummed
:( sad obviously
:p joking
I don't like when people do their smiles backwards like this (: because it makes me think they are frowning.
Noses in emoticons are so weird. :-) Doesn't that just look dumb?

I hate Hate HATE when people will text me first, then I'll text them back, then they don't text back. What the H? Why would you text me in the first place? Doesn't make sense at all!

Punctuation. If someone texts you and puts a period after it could be bad. Let's just say you were texting someone saying "I can't hang out tonight :/" and they text back with "Ok." They are pissed. Right? Who comes up with these rules? You all know it's true. I definitely put periods on the end of short words or sentences when I'm mad. "That's fine." sounds worse than "That's fine". See what I mean?

Texting while talking to someone, or while on a date is EXTREMELY rude. I cannot stand that. My friend Kameron said that if a girl texts someone else while he is on a date with them he will take them home immediately. That is pretty intense, but I agree.

Texting is so complicated. There are so many unwritten rules that people have to follow. Not to mention that everyone has their own rules to texting. The bottom line is, if someone wants to communicate effectively they should talk to them in person. That is the best way to actually talk about something. Texting is totally ok and appropriate in some situations. Don't get me wrong, I don't HATE texting. I just feel like there are so many things that can go wrong. Texting is mostly dumb. Yes, I still use it, but it's dumb.
One more thing to add. I have talked about this before, but if someone wants to talk to you (meaning texting or any other form of communication) they will find a way. If someone doesn't text you back, they probably don't want to. There are always exceptions to this, but for the most part people don't text back on purpose.

Ok that's all of my ranting about this subject, for now. If you want to watch a way funny video about texting go to YOUTUBE and type in "Jenna Marbles Text Decode." I would have posted it on the blog, but she has kind of a foul mouth so if you do watch it just be ready for it.
